Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the decision on Karim Benzema, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The Frenchman is the only senior striker in the Los Blancos squad, with the side looking a little thin upfront in his absence.
Benzema's contract is due to expire in June but there will no be no departure for the reigning Ballon d'Or winner, according to his coach.
'Ronaldo Could Not Stand The Training Benzema Does'
"It is a subject that must be discussed calmly. Karim's age and Karim's performance must be taken into account," Ancelotti said at a press conference, as per Goal.
"Benzema is our number nine. After the World Cup he is doing very well and I think next season, too, he will do very well."
Los Blancos take on Al Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Saturday night, although it remains to be seen if Benzema or Eder Militao will feature.
"They have come out because they have a chance of playing in the final. Today's training session will be key in determining if they play or not."
