Karim Benzema's personal trainer has seemingly fired shots at Cristiano Ronaldo, suggesting that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner would fail to keep up with the reigning best player in the world.
New Frontrunners Emerge In Race To Purchase Man Utd
The Lyon-born attacker is currently in a race against time to be fit for the FIFA Club World Cup's final should Los Blancos defeat Al Ahly on Wednesday night, with the Real captain currently out of action after sustaining a muscular injury during his side's 2-0 victory over Valencia last week.
The 35-year-old is, however, considered to be working harder than he ever has on his physicality and according to his trainer, even Real's all-time top goalscorer Ronaldo would struggle to keep up with Benzema.
While speaking to Radio Marca, Javier Atalaya said of the Frenchman's training regimen: "Karim is getting better every day. He is at home, without having anything to do, and he goes down to the gym to train.
"The Frenchman's mentality involves improving every day. Even Cristiano could not stand the training that Benzema does."
Atalaya also worked closely with the Madeira native while he was in the Spanish capital, so is perhaps in the best position to pass judgement on whether the 38-year-old would be able to compete with his former teammate's fitness levels.
Barca Make Decision On Ronaldinho's Son After Trial
Last season Benzema, for the first time in his career, was able to do what Ronaldo had been able to do on five previous occasions and that was get his hands on the prestigious Golden Ball award. The Real skipper's 44 goals in 45 matches earned him Ballon d'Or honours but this season he has failed to replicate his prolific 2021/22 form due persistent injuries.
