A decade after his acrimonious exit from the Santiago Bernabeu, Mourinho is being tipped to make a dramatic return to the Spanish capital.
Pressure continues to mount on Carlo Ancelotti after Real's ElClasico loss this past weekend, and, according to Mundo Deportivo, club president Florentino Perez is looking at potential replacements for the Italian.
Mourinho, who is currently with AS Roma, is reportedly part of a shortlist of other candidates which includes the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Xabi Alonso, Zinedine Zidane and Oliver Glasner.
While the Portuguese tactician's departure in 2013 was not under the ideal circumstances, the two-time UEFA Champions League winner is responsible for the one of the most successful domestic seasons in LaLiga history after he won the Spanish league title with a total of 100 points during the 2011/12 season.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan head coach has been vocal about the lack of funds available for him to compete at the highest level in Rome and is likely to be open to returning to Los Blancos should the opportunity present itself.
Mourinho is still believed to have an excellent relationship with Perez, who was reportedly interested in bringing him back to Madrid before Ancelotti made his return to the club in 2021.
