Xavi Hernandez Comments On Neymar's 2018 FIFA World Cup Antics

Xavi Hernandez Comments On Neymar's 2018 FIFA World Cup Antics

FC Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez, who played alongside Neymar at the Catalan giants, has commented on the Brazilian's antics at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Neymar Wants Former Barca Teammate At PSG?

Neymar has been heavily criticised for his displays for the Selecao at the tournament, mainly for going to ground too easily at times.

However, Xavi, the 26-year-old's former club teammate, has instead chosen to praise Neymar for how he keeps taking responsibility for whichever team he plays in.

"It's the way he plays, it's just the way he is and that's hard to change," he told AS.

"I can understand that it causes problems, some people think he dives too much.

"But what you cannot criticise him for is for lack of trying or for not having personality; he will always take on a player or carry the weight of the team on his shoulders and I would much rather have a player like that on my side than someone who hides, or is afraid to take risks."

Ronaldo Nazario Defends Under-Fire Neymar

Despite a disappointing World Cup this year, Neymar has some decent numbers since his debut in the tournament four years ago, having scored six goals and assisted a further three strikes in 10 matches so far.
