Ahead of the French giants' final game of the 2022/23 season, it was announced that the Argentine would be making his last appearance for the club at the Parc des Princes, which turned out to be a surprise 3-2 defeat to Clermont Foot.
Messi later confirmed that he would be taking his career to MLS franchise Inter Miami, revealing that he wanted to return to Barcelona prior to agreeing to join the United States-based club, but decided against waiting for a formal proposal from his former side.
There has since been speculation around Mbappe's future in France, after he informed PSG that he would not be extending his contract in France beyond 2024.
While he has insisted publicly that he wants to spend next season at the Ligue 1 champions, some reports have suggested that Mbappe was hoping to entice Real Madrid into moving for him in this transfer window following Karim Benzema's switch to Saudi Arabia.
Now, according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, some of Messi's parting words of advice to the Frenchman included the Argentine making it clear that he believed the 24-year-old deserved better than PSG.
"I prefer that you go to Barca. But if you want to go to Madrid, do it, you deserve a real winning project," he is reported to have told the Frenchman.

It is thought that Barcelona are not in the race to sign Mbappe in 2024 due to their financial situation, with Real strong favourites to land the Frenchman's signature either in this window or next year.
