Messi Has Phone Call With Barca

With Lionel Messi having reportedly discussed a potential return to Barcelona with president Joan Laporta, what was said during their conversation has seemingly been revealed.

The Nine Contract Demands Messi Made To Barca Revealed

According to Spanish journalist Sergio Gonzalez, Laporta has attempted to re-establish a relationship with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner following his departure from the Catalan giants in 2021.

The reporter claims there has been contact between the Barcelona chief and the club's all-time record goalscorer this week, a conversation in which Laporta tried to gauge whether his former No. 10 would be interested in a return.

The Blaugrana chief also reportedly cleared a few things up that were not resolved at the time of Messi's exit, while Forbes claims the Argentine has stated he will only consider his future after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, on Thursday, said the Spanish giants are dreaming of bringing Messi back to the Camp Nou, but added that Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to extend his contract too.

The 35-year-old's current deal in Paris expires in 2023, meaning the playmaker will be legally allowed to entertain offers at the turn of the year.

Following his arrival in France, Messi endured a difficult debut campaign, but has got the 2022/23 season off to a promising start, having played a hand in 14 goals in 11 matches so far.

Ronaldinho Answers Big Messi Best-Of-All-Time Question

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has reportedly shown an interest in luring Messi back to his boyhood club, while Laporta appears determined to rebuild bridges following an apparent fallout after the player's free-agent departure in August last year.
