Messi left for the Middle East seemingly to fulfil ambassadorial duties after he signed a deal to help promote the country's bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
It is understood the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will be suspended for two weeks, which will see him train away from his teammates until he is allowed to return to action for the Ligue 1 leaders.
According to journalist Tariq Panja, there is now a feeling that Messi might not play for PSG again this season, and that it is likely he will be playing elsewhere in the 2023/24 campaign.
The Argentine's current deal in France expires in June this year, amid reports he could rejoin Barcelona as a free agent.
