Club To Offer Messi 'Contract Worth €400m'

Club To Offer Messi 'Contract Worth €400m'

A club outside of Europe is reportedly set to offer Lionel Messi a stunning contract worth €400 million (R7.6 billion) a season, which is double what the world's highest-paid player, Cristiano Ronaldo, earns in Saudi Arabia.

Messi Makes Shock Contract U-Turn?

The Argentine's current deal at Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season, amid reports claiming he is now leaning towards an exit from the club instead of an extension on new terms.

Messi has been linked with a host of sides across the world, particularly MLS team Inter Miami and Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal, with it believed that the latter are willing to break the bank for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.

According to football journalist Rudy Galleti, the Saudi club is preparing an enormous contract proposal worth between €400 million and €450 million (R8.6 billion) a season in a potential deal that would see him overtake Ronaldo as football's best-paid player.

Ronaldo is rumoured to be on a salary of around €200 million (R3.8 billion) at Al Nassr, whom he joined as a free agent at the start of January following his departure from Manchester United in November.

Currently, Messi is the world's third-highest-paid player after Kylian Mbappe, his teammate in France, and long-time rival Ronaldo.
