PSG Make Decision On Messi World Cup Presentation?

PSG Make Decision On Messi World Cup Presentation?

Having just returned to Paris Saint-Germain following his 2022 FIFA World Cup victory, the Ligue 1 giants have reportedly made a decision regarding Lionel Messi's request to present his tournament prizes to the club's faithful.

Ronaldo Banned From Making Debut For Al Nassr

On Wednesday, Messi made his return to the French capital for the first time since coming out of the World Cup in Qatar triumphant with Argentina.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was warmly received by his PSG colleagues upon his arrival in Paris, while club technical director Luis Campos also gifting him with a trophy for his exploits in the Gulf.

While Les Parisiens' French Cup battle with Chateauroux on Friday comes too soon for the 35-year-old's return to club football, Messi could return for the French champions' Ligue 1 clash with Angers next Wednesday.

However, a question that remains up in the air is whether or not the club will let the diminutive goalscorer show off his prizes from the global showpiece to their supporters.

Messi and Argentina's victory came at the expense of the France national team, and it seems the club's hierarchy do not wish to upset their fans and have thus decided to not let Messi present his tournament accolades ahead of the match against Angers, as per Le Parisiens.

It is further claimed, though, that this decision is not definitive, and that club president Nasser Al Khelaifi and Campos could change their minds in the next couple of days.

The Rosario native's two goals in the World Cup final helped La Albiceleste capture their third world title and prevented Les Bleus from becoming the third nation to retain their world champions status.

What will be a priority for the club's hierarchy, however, is keeping Messi at the Parc des Princes beyond this season.

The Argentine's contract with the French outfit is scheduled to expire in June, but it seems he is set to extend his stay for at least another season.
