Professional footballers across the planet have had their say, and the official shortlist for FIFA's 2023 World 11 has been announced.
The 23-man list is littered with Manchester City players after their historic treble-winning campaign last season, with star striker Haaland, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, John Stone, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Ederson among the pool of players who could be included in the final team.
Mbappe is the sole representative from Paris Saint-Germain, and he is joined by former teammate Lionel Messi in the category for forwards.
The reigning Ballon d'Or winner, long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo and Frenchman Karim Benzema are the only players among the nominees who do not ply their trade in Europe, with the latter duo playing their football in Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr and Al Ittihad, respectfully, while the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is Inter Miami's captain in the US.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, finished as the most prolific goalscorer in 2023 for club and country, ending the year with 53 goals.
