Inter Miami claimed the Supporters Shield following a 3-2 win over Columbus Crew in the early hours of Thursday morning, their second trophy since Messi's arrival in 2023.
The Supporters Shield is handed to the MLS team with the best regular-season record.
With this achievement, fans will reflect on the impact the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has had in the United States as the team prepares for the MLS playoffs.
Messi, meanwhile, has added another piece of silverware to his historic collection that now consists of 46 trophies, including three major international titles as captain of Argentina.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain man extends his record over Dani Alves, who celebrated 44 trophies in his career, with Ronaldo now nine titles behind his long-standing rival on 37.
Messi scored twice in Miami's triumph over Columbus Crew, one of those goals coming from a superbly taken direct free-kick.
Speaking to Apple TV after the game, the Herons' captain suggested he still has an appetite for more.
"We have a nice opportunity to go down in history and now we think about what is coming," Messi said.
