Premier League giants Manchester City have reportedly made a big decision regarding FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi, days after Pep Guardiola extended his contract with the club.
It has now been claimed that the Citizens have decided to not move for the 33-year-old Argentine due to fears over his age and expected wages.
According to Spanish football expert Semra Hunter, City have gone cold on their interest in the Catalan club captain, per Sky Sports.
Messi has been strongly linked with a move to the club since the latest transfer window, during which he attempted to force his way out of the Camp Nou.
While he did not get his wish, the forward had still been tipped to join the Citizens ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, with his contract expiring at the end of this season.
Those rumours resurfaced after Guardiola signed a new deal in England last week, leading many to believe that the Spanish tactician could be preparing to welcome his former star to the Etihad.
Messi has put in some worrying performances for Barcelona so far this season, although he has scored six goals and assisted a further four strikes in 11 matches across all competitions.
