If Messi scores in the Copa del Rey quarter-final return leg against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night, the duo's combined tally would amount to 1 000 goals.
The Argentine has netted 481 times – including 49 for his national team – since making his senior debut, while Ronaldo, who is two years older, has netted 518 career goals.
The Portuguese has scored 55 strikes for his country, five for Sporting Lisbon, 118 for Manchester United and 340 since joining Real.
Both are their respective club's leading all-time scorers – Messi currently sits on 432 strikes in 506 games for the Catalan giants, while Ronaldo needed just 327 matches to reach his current Los Blancos tally of 340 goals.

Overall, the Portugal captain scored his 518 goals in 773 matches, while Messi reached his tally of 481 strikes in 611 appearances.
