With Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng once being left embarrassed after a piece of skill by FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi in the UEFA Champions League, the German has now taken to social media to throw a jab the Argentine's way.

In the first leg of the 2014/15 semi-final between Barca and Bayern at the Camp Nou, the 31-year-old centre-back, considered among the world's best defenders at the time, was left stunned by Messi.
Although the Argentine had opened the scoring with a brilliant left-footed strike to beat Manuel Neuer from outside the box in the 77th minute, it was what he did three minutes later that many fans will never forget.

Receiving the ball from Ivan Rakitic, Messi ran at Boateng in the box at speed, feinted as if he was going to go on to his left foot, but at the last second went on to his right. The Germany defender infamously collapsed as if the ground beneath him caved in before the Barca forward found the back of the net with a cheeky right-footed chip over Neuer.

On Wednesday, exactly five years to the day after that moment, Boateng took to Twitter to remind his followers that he got the better of Messi the previous year in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final, which Germany won dramatically in extra-time.
