Messi is currently in the final eight months of his contract with Les Parisiens and there has undoubtedly been massive interest surrounding his future. There have been murmurs of a potential return to Barcelona, while Inter Miami are also said to be a potential next destination for the forward.
Last week, news broke that Messi is open to signing with the budding Florida-based MLS team, with reports suggesting the 35-year-old is open to taking on a different challenge and its seems that the Herons might be able to provide that.
Speaking to the press, club director Chris Henderson appreciates being linked with arguably the greatest player of all-time but remained tight-lipped about the team's prospects of signing the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.
"I knew Messi would come up! It's great to be connected with amazing players and our club connected with," Henderson told reporters, as per Goal.
"I don't want to comment on someone who's not on our roster and speculation and rumours, but he's one of the greatest players to have ever played the game. Messi on any team in the world is going to change that team.

"I don't want to speculate and talk about him on our team, but he changes every league and every team that he plays for.
"It comes down to what is the character of the player? What is his motivation to come to the league? The balance between older players in this league and younger players, it comes down to that motivation, the fitness level of the player, why he's coming and then being able to integrate him into what you're doing as a club and where you going."
While PSG would love to keep Messi beyond the end of the season, the Argentine icon is only set to give a definitive answer about his future once the 2022 FIFA World Cup is over.
