Gunmen have reportedly threatened Lionel Messi after shooting up a supermarket in Argentina owned by his wife's family.
Pele's Lionel Messi World Cup Wish Revealed
According to NBC News, a message was left for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner by gunmen who fired several shots into a store owned by his wife Antonela Roccuzzo's family in Rosario.
Police said nobody was injured during the incident and that it remains unclear as to why Messi and the Unico supermarket were targeted.
The assailants are believed to have left a message that read: "Messi, we're waiting for you. Javkin is also a drug trafficker, so he won't take care of you."
It is suggested that this message could be in response to the city's mayor, Pablo Javkin, lashing out at federal authorities for failing to "curb a surge in drug-related violence in Rosario".

Police are still investigating the matter, with it thought by some that the threat could be an attempt from local drug traffickers to "intimidate the broader population".
