Messi Ends Calendar Year Ahead Of CR7
On Thursday, the 33-year-old was in the United Arab Emirates to collect the Best Goal and Best Player Awards at the Globe Soccer Awards.
During his acceptance speech of the prize for the Best Goal, Ronaldo was believed to say that he might have won the Puskas Award if FIFA's executives "knew more about football," according to LiveSoccerTv.
He also went on to say it was the best goal he has ever scored in his illustrious career.
"I see that those who understand this sport realize how hard it is to score a goal such as this one," he added.
"I have scored nearly 700 goals in my career, and that one is by far the best.
"The only downside is that I scored it against my current team."
