Years on from his time working with his hero Pep Guardiola at FC Barcelona, Cesc Fabregas has revealed he has not been in contact with his former boss at all.
The Spaniard rejoined the Catalan giants from Arsenal in 2011, only playing a single season under Guardiola, who was his hero growing up, before the tactician decided to take a sabbatical from the game.
It has not been entirely clear as to why Fabregas and Guardiola were unable to maintain a relationship following that season, although there are theories that the player blames the manager for his Barcelona career not going as planned.
Fabregas began to play less and less football after Guardiola's exit from the Blaugrana, and eventually returned to the Premier League in 2014 to work with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
He contributed to 35 goals in 48 matches in his only campaign under Guardiola, and continued to produce healthy numbers in his last two seasons in Spain, but was eventually considered replaceable.
Speaking about his relationship with the Manchester City boss recently, Fabregas revealed that there has still been no contact between them, but also admitted to learning more from Guardiola than any other manager he has played under.
"No, no, with Pep, nothing at all," he said, according to ESPN.
"I don't know if the disappointment with Pep is mutual. Things happened, but I prefer not to talk about it.
"Pep was my idol since I was a child. It is him I have learned (from) the most, perhaps, since I was four until now."
Fabregas scored 42 goals and assisted a further 50 strikes in 151 matches for Barcelona.
