There have been continued concerns regarding Manchester United's chances of challenging for the Premier League title due to their inconsistency under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and there are some worrying statistics to back that up.
Liverpool and Manchester City have been regarded as the main contenders for success in the league over the past few seasons, while United have been in and out of battles for a UEFA Champions League spot.
Solskjaer has now managed more than 100 games for the Manchester club, but the pendulum swings between highs, such as their 5-0 win over RB Leipzig in October, to lows, like their 6-1 hammering at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.
Opta Sports recently revealed that, in 700 days at the Red Devils' helm, Solskjaer has never finished a single day at the top of the Premier League table.
Added to this, according to talkSPORT, United's expected goals figure per shot, which is just 0.07, is the lowest in the English top flight this season.
Their tough start has also seen them concede 14 goals in just seven games, their worst tally since the 1989/90 campaign.
The failure to take their chances and their defensive frailty has now seen them gather 10 points or less from their first seven games of a campaign in three seasons in a row – United last achieved this dismal record under David Moyes.
The Manchester club will be back in action against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
