According to The Sun, Borussia Dortmund tried to sign the 23-year-old attacker on loan during the previous mid-season window, but the Mancunians rejected the German side's advances.
It is claimed the Bundesliga giants are planning on returning for their former talisman in the upcoming window should his issues with Ten Hag persist.
The Red Devils' boss left the England international out of the United squad for their latest Premier League encounter against Arsenal, and when quizzed as to why, he said the winger had not been training adequately.
Hours later, Sancho would rebut his manager's sentiments, releasing a statement in which he claimed other forces were at play for his absence.
He scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists during his spell at Signal Iduna Park between 2017 and 2021, and it was those performances that ultimately earned him a €85 million (R1.7 billion) move to the Theatre of Dreams.

The same report claims that Dortmund chiefs are now keeping a close eye on his situation at Old Trafford, and will look at bringing him back in on loan come January if it does not improve, although United will want a significant amount his £300 000 (R7.1 million) wages covered if they are to let him go in a temporary deal.
