Manchester United have confirmed their second signing of the transfer window after successfully hijacking his move to Real Madrid.

The Red Devils have signed 18-year-old French centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille in France for a reported fee of €62 million (R1.2 billion), including add-ons.

Described as a generational talent, the defender was said to initially prefer a switch to Los Blancos, who had also put in a bid to secure his services.
The France youth international underwent a two-day medical at United on Wednesday and Thursday after flying to Manchester with his camp.
Yoro enjoyed a standout 2023/24 season in Ligue 1 with Lille, making 44 senior appearances and scoring three goals.
His impressive performances earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year, and a place on the radar of many top clubs around Europe.

The defender has penned a five-year deal at the 20-time English champions, becoming the club's second acquisition of the window after Joshua Zirkzee.
