According to German publication SportBILD, the Red Devils are keeping close tabs on four Bayer Leverkusen players ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Among them is Ivorian centre-back Odilon Kossounou, who played an important role in helping the Elephants win the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil earlier this month.
The defender was benched in all three of his nation's group matches, but came into the side following the sacking of Jean-Louis Gasset mid-tournament.
Interim boss Emerse Fae, who has since been handed the job on a permanent basis, started him against Senegal in the round of 16 and in the quarter-final against Mali.
His red card in that last-eight encounter meant he was unavailable for Ivory Coast's 1-0 semi-final victory over DR Congo, although he did regain his place in the starting XI when the Elephants beat Nigeria in the final.
This season in Germany, Kossounou has made 20 appearances under head coach Xabi Alonso, scoring one goal.
