Manchester United star Anthony Martial's wife, Melanie, has revealed that she received death threats and racial abuse following the club's defeat to Sheffield United.
The Red Devils suffered a shock 2-1 loss to the Blades in a Premier League match at Old Trafford on Wednesday, which saw them remain in second place on the league table.
After the game, it was revealed that Martial and defender Axel Tuanzebe had received numerous racist replies to posts of their's on Instagram.
The messages from one individual, which also made reference to their two-year-old son Swan, read: "Tell your *****, husband, boyfriend, ****mate or whatever to get tf out of Manchester or we're gonna get him killed.
"Last warning.
"He just cost us the league title.
"You guy should get tf out or put your life and family's (your kid Martial) life in danger."
Another message from a different person read: "Ur white and u still with ***** so disgusting."
United's statement on the abuse following the game read: "Everyone at Manchester United is disgusted by the racial abuse received by players via social media after last night's game.
"We utterly condemn it and it is encouraging to see other fans condemn this on social media also."
