Manchester United's latest transfer window was heavily criticised despite a flurry of arrivals on deadline day, and now another transfer failure has reportedly been revealed.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, but he was seemingly not the only winger from the Bundesliga who was on the Manchester club's radar.
According to the Daily Mail, United were also keen on luring Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen to Old Trafford, and were willing to pay £45 million (R929 million) to secure his signature.
However, when the move failed to materialise, United pushed to complete the deal for rising talent Amad Diallo, who will only arrive at the club in January.
Leverkusen were not keen to sell Diaby, who has scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in July 2019, after seeing Kai Havertz depart for Chelsea.
United ended the window with the signings of Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Diallo and Facundo Pellestri.
