France's Ligue 1 has become the first of Europe's top five leagues to be cancelled, the country's government has decided.
France's prime minister Edouard Philippe officially announced on Tuesday afternoon that no sporting events, not even behind closed doors, will take place until September.
This would make it impossible to end 2019/20 campaign before the new season is supposed to start, signalling the end of the current Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 season.

The French Football Association (LFP) will reportedly meet next month to discuss the ramifications for promotion, relegation, European qualification and champions.
Paris Saint-Germain were leading the table by 12 points ahead of second-placed Olympique Marseille before the coronavirus outbreak halted football.
Meanwhile, Bongani Zungu's Amiens are currently sitting in a relegation spot, meaning that his team could be relegated from Ligue 1 unless the 2019/20 campaign is voided.
Last week, the Netherlands' Eredivisie became Europe's first league to be officially cancelled, with the 2019/20 campaign being voided without naming champions, relegated or promoted teams.
