Gareth Bale has reportedly made a shock decision about his future as he heads into the final year of his contract with Real Madrid.
Bale's future has been a topic of discussion for the past year after spending the season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, where he racked up 16 goals in 34 appearances.
However, the Welsh attacker has returned to Los Blancos for the final year of his contract, but it remains to be seen if he will feature in Carlo Ancelotti's plans.
English outlet the Mirror has reported that the 31-year-old could retire from club football next year when his contract with the Spanish giants comes to an end.
It is believed that Bale still wants to represent Wales at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar if they make it and will remain open to playing international football even without a club.
While Real resumed training this week, Bale remains on holiday after his exploits with Wales at the 2020 UEFA European Championship where they crashed out at the round of 16.
The Los Blancos winger did silence any talk of hanging up his boots for the national side last month.
"I want to continue to play," Bale said, as per Goal.
"People ask stupid questions all the time, but obviously I love playing for Wales.
"I'll play for Wales until the day that I stop playing football."
