Eden Hazard reportedly returned to Real Madrid pre-season training on Wednesday looking worryingly out of shape.
Similar occurred in 2019 when the Belgian first joined Los Blancos, returning for pre-season on that occasion 7kgs overweight after having been signed for €115 million (R2 billion) from Chelsea at the end of the previous campaign.
The 30-year-old made only 21 appearances for Real last season, and there have been question marks regarding his off-the-pitch work ethic in the past, with some saying it might be the reason he is so injury-prone.
Spanish publication Marca has now reported that the Belgium international underwent pre-season tests on Wednesday but performed disappointingly, although the club is said to already have a plan to get the winger back to his best.
Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti wants Hazard to be a permanent fixture in his side and has signalled his intention, along with fitness chief Antonio Pintus, to get him into the best shape possible.
It is up to Hazard whether or not he will put in the hard yards on the training ground and look after his body, which could determine how big a role he will play for Real in the upcoming season.
