Remember When Ronaldinho Dazzled Mamelodi Sundowns In 2007?

Mamelodi Sundowns will host LaLiga champions FC Barcelona tonight, but do you remember when Ronaldinho guided a Blaugrana side packed with world-class players to a 2-1 win over Masandawana in 2007?

The match 11 years ago was played at Loftus Versfeld, and Barcelona had brought along the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Deco, Xavi Hernandez, Carles Puyol and superstar Ronaldinho.

Messi, who had just turned 20 that month, was still an emerging star in the team coached by Frank Rijkaard while Ronaldinho wrote all the headlines.

However, it was the home team that scored the opener inside two minutes. Surprise Moriri finished off a superb team move for Gordon Igesund's side by beating Victor Valdes after just one minute and 27 seconds.

Eto'o had a chance to equalise in the 24th minute, while Deco also attempted a bicycle kick that was saved by Downs goalkeeper Calvin Marlin, but it was Ronaldinho who ran the show for the prominent visitors.

However, it took the European giants until the 77th minute to find the equaliser. It was Ronaldinho's free-kick that was cleared by Marlin but kicked back into the box, where it kindly fell for Santiago Ezquerro, who finished into an empty net.

Ronaldinho was again involved in Barca's winner as he brilliantly set up Barca youth product Marc Crosas, who scored the winner in the 81st minute. At the end, Sundowns players were a little star-struck as they clamoured for Ronaldinho's shirt as well as selfies with their famous counterparts before celebrating the trophy handover on the podium together.
