Copa del Rey

Teams: FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid

Date: 6 February

Venue: Camp Nou

Time: 22:00

The Spanish giants face each other tonight in what is the first of three meetings over the next four weeks. They will contest the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tonight, with the return fixture set to take place on 27 February, three days ahead of the next El Clasico in LaLiga.

Barcelona thrashed Real 5-1 in the first El Clasico of the season back in October, which ultimately led to Julen Lopetegui's sacking.

Back then, Messi missed the game through injury, and many feared he would again be sidelined tonight after picking up a knock in the Blaugrana's 2-2 draw with Valencia on the weekend.

However, the Blaugrana captain was named on the bench and will hope to continue his superb El Clasico record– he has netted 26 goals in his previous 37 clashes with Real, more than any other player in the famous derby's history.

Both teams enter the game in good form. Real have won their past five successive games in all competitions, and seven of their past eight, only losing the second leg of their Copa quarter-final against Leganes 1-0 after winning the first leg 3-0.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have won five of their past seven games, and will take confidence from their 6-1 thrashing of Sevilla in the second leg of their quarter-final tie after losing the first leg 2-0.

Of the past 10 El Clasicos at the Camp Nou, Barcelona have won only three, while Real emerged victorious four times, and three ended in a draw.
