The 27-year-old recently completed a €35 million (R605 million) switch from Udinese to Atletico, five years after leaving Valencia to join the Serie A side.
It was a remarkable off-season for De Paul, who had a vital hand in Argentina winning the 2021 Copa America alongside Lionel Messi, with the midfielder assisting Angel Di Maria's goal in their 1-0 victory over Brazil in the final.
Speaking about his return to LaLiga, he is clearly looking forward to working under Simeone's management, saying he believes he and his compatriot share the same outlook on the way football should be played.
"This is a massive club, but the people make it feel like a family. They told me it was like this. This was one of my dreams. Now I'm here and I've fulfilled it, and I want to make history at this beautiful club," he told LaLiga.
"The group has welcomed me with open arms. I'm really happy and trying to adapt and get used to the team. To be coached by one of the world's best managers is incredible.
"His career and achievements speak volumes and will never be forgotten. I will learn so much from him and that motivates me a lot. We understand and feel football in a very similar way. I'm convinced internal competition will make all of us better. I'm here to compete and help the team.
"Our country hadn't won the Copa America in 28 years. I want to keep feeling the same things with Atletico as I felt when I won that trophy.
