Many might have forgotten that the 32-year-old is still on the club's books, with his 2015 transfer from Atletico Madrid being nothing short of disappointing.
Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez might also be in his last season at Barca following the recent knee injury he picked up. Only expected to return to action in April, the forward could struggle to get back into the team, especially if Setien figures out how to play without him.
Suarez has previously admitted that the club needs to look for his long-term replacement, and with the former Liverpool man now set for a long spell on the sidelines, Barca might be forced to find that player even sooner.
