It appears to be a transfer window of big changes at Los Blancos, with first-choice centre-back pairing Ramos and Varane both having moved on ahead of the 2021/22 season, one that manager Carlo Ancelotti has returned to the club for.
While Ramos signed for Paris Saint-Germain following the expiration of his contract in Spain, Varane has agreed to join Manchester United, who announced that a deal in principle had been struck with the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners earlier this week.
It is believed that Real president Florentino Perez and his board are trying to raise money to fund a move for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, who has reportedly decided he will not be extending his contract beyond 2022.
This means that the French giants could be pressured into selling him in this transfer window, although early signs suggest that the club will do everything they possibly can to hang on to the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
More player sales could be necessary at the Santiago Bernabeu if the Spanish giants are to launch a bid for Mbappe's signature, although some current first-team players could also be shipped out on loan deals should Ancelotti not have them in his plans for the season ahead.
