Baroka FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke's dramatic bicycle kick goal against Orlando Pirates is now doing the rounds in the English media.
Footballers In The Last Year Of Their Contracts
With his team trailing 1-0 with only seconds left on the clock, the Bakgaga shot-stopper made his way up the field to join his teammates for the final corner kick of the match.
The cross was delivered neatly into the box, only for Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane to punch the ball in the direction of Masuluke, who allowed it to bounce before performing the outrageous bicycle kick.
Many have been left stunned by the terrific goal, including English publications such as the Daily Mail, which suggested that even Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi would be happy with this strike if they pulled it off.
"Paul Robinson, Brad Friedel, Peter Schmeichel. Yes, goalkeepers can and do score from time to time, whether aided by a freak gust of wind or leaping heroically to meet a corner in the dying seconds," Alex Martin wrote in the Daily Mail.
"Now, we can add South African goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke to the list of goalscoring goalies after he earned his Baroka side an unlikely draw over Orlando Pirates with a last-gasp winner from a corner.
"But this was no mere header or a stroke of luck from a long free-kick. In fact, Masuluke scored the kind of goal that would have left even Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi chuffed with themselves."
The Daily Mail was not the only English media house to feature Masuluke's goal – the Daily Star, The Telegraph, The Sun, ESPN and well-known twitter account @EPLBible, among others, have all reported on the PSL star's goal.
Masuluke now joins other PSL stars such as Thabo Rakhale, Siphiwe Shabalala and Itumeleng Khune as South African top flight players who have featured in the English press in recent times.
