The Gabon international has made headlines across Europe this season, and has been linked with top clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and United as a result.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils are reportedly ready to splash £45 million on the Dortmund star amid speculation that Van Gaal is looking to bolster United's attack.
The Dutchman's team has been heavily criticised for their approach this season as, while United are dominating possession in matches, very few chances are being created.
The 26-year-old is currently top of the Bundesliga's scoring charts with 17 strikes in 14 matches, while he has contributed with a further three assists.
