Liverpool legend and SuperSport pundit John Barnes has slammed Real Madrid and Manchester United over the collapse of David de Gea's transfer.

Both clubs reportedly agreed a deal for the Spaniard, with Real's Keylor Navas going the other way.
However, due to admin errors, the transfer wasn't completed before the Spanish transfer window shut on Monday night, and Barnes believes the debacle could be a wake-up call for both teams.
"Maybe this is bit of a wake-up call to make sure they get it all done early," he told talkSPORT.
"It's not the outcome either team would have wanted.
"De Gea wanted to go and I'm sure Man United would have wanted the money, but (the deal didn't happen) because they were waiting until the last minute, Man United to squeeze more money out and Real Madrid to pay less money – it serves them both right!"
Barnes also mentioned a club that impressed him during the transfer window.
"Talking about the transfer window, I have to praise Everton – as much as it kills me to do it," he added.
"The way they dealt with the John Stones situation was fantastic and even the way Stones reacted to his transfer request being turned down, it shows the right way it should be done."
