Many might ask: How can Higuain be more expensive than Bale, with the Welshman's €101 million (R1.6 billion) deal being the current world record for the most expensive transfer?
Higuain's €90 million (R1.4 billion) move from Napoli to Juventus was already the Argentine's third transfer, and his three deals combined add up to €141 million (R2.2 billion) overall in fees paid for the player.
Bale's move to Los Blancos was only his second transfer, and the two deals add up to €115.7 million (R1.8 billion).
The 27-year-old currently sits in 10th spot in the ranking of the most expensive players, while Ronaldo dropped out of the top 10 and now sits in 11th place with his two moves – from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United, and from the Red Devils to Real – adding up to €111.5 million (R1.7 billion).
