The Argentina international's transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Chinese side Hebei China Fortune was confirmed on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old reportedly signed a two-year contract that will see him pocketing £23.5 million (R526 million), according to the Daily Mirror.
The whopping pay package calculates to £222 000 (R5 million) a week, which is slightly more than what Sergio Aguero, at £220 000 (R4.9 million) a week, earns at Manchester City.
Lavezzi is the latest big star to leave one of Europe's top leagues for China – Ramires, Jackson Martinez, Alex Teixeira and Gervinho, among others, have all moved to the Asian country since the beginning of the year.
