Xavi Hernandez was furious following Barcelona's UEFA Champions League loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday as he bemoaned the refereeing decisions made on the night.
Xavi: Barca Is Messi's Home, But…
The Catalan giants were infuriated to have not been awarded a penalty late on in their 1-0 defeat to Inter in Italy, with replays appearing to show that right-back Denzel Dumfries handled the ball in the box.
Just moments earlier in the match, Barcelona had a goal chalked off due to an accidental handball in the build-up, while Hakan Calhanoglu was fortunate to escape a red card following a studs-up challenge on Sergio Busquets in the second half.
It was, however, the penalty that the match official did not award that Xavi was most upset about, insisting after the game that referees should be made to explain their decisions publicly.
"I feel that it was a big injustice, I can't hide it," he said, according to Eurosport.
"I'm offended. It's the referee who should be giving explanations, I said that yesterday. We don't understand.
"I think the referee should be out here, that would humanise them a lot more. Today, I'm really unhappy.
Messi 'Will Return To Barca' In 2023
"This is football, it's a game that we've lost, we've got three more finals. Two at home, they'll be real finals, and we'll have to focus on more intensity, the first half wasn't good – we have to be a bit critical."
Barcelona are now third in Group C in the Champions League, having claimed just one win from their first three matches in the competition this season.
