Like Lamine Yamal, Fabregas was prominent player at an elite club as a teenager.
In an Arsenal midfield that boasted the likes of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva, the Spaniard was quickly able to establish himself as force in the team.
The La Masia alumni remains the youngest-ever goalscorer in the Gunners' history, scoring in a 5-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at just 16 years, six months and 28 days' old.
Now, another Barca academy graduate in Lamine Yamal is making his presence felt, perhaps in an even bigger way.
Along with breaking a plethora of records since making his senior debut for the Blaugrana, the young superstar played a major role in helping Spain capture their fourth UEFA European Championship title a few months ago, and also claimed the showpiece's Young Player of the Tournament prize.
When Fabregas was asked recently about who he believes in the best player in the world right now, the now-Como manager insisted it is the skilful winger.
"I would probably say Lamine Yamal... for the impact that he's having. When you have this type of talent, this type of quality, for me to see the freedom and how he expresses himself on the pitch, it's fantastic to see because of the creativity," the 37-year-old told ESPN.
"I think he's a unique talent. He's someone that you just need to let him go out and play football. He will always make a difference when he's pressed, when he's not pressed, he always finds the right solution, even if it's an individual action or a one, two, or the last ball, or give continuity to the play, whatever the game demands in that moment.
"He's capable of reading [a game] and he's capable of understanding what it needs.

"I think this is already a sign of a big player, of a very mature player. And what I like the most is that it feels like he's playing in the street. It feels like everything becomes so easy for him. He's free in the mind."
