Earlier this week, a bombshell report from a Swedish publication claimed that the 25-year-old Real Madrid superstar is being investigated for sexual assault that occurred at the hotel he recently stayed at in Sweden.
Mbappe was a notable absentee from France's squad for their UEFA Nations League matches over the recently concluded international break after manager Didier Deschamps decided to grant him a rest period.
The Los Blancos No. 9 was spotted in Sweden enjoying a short break but, according to his legal representative Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, is confused after being implicated in an alleged rape.
Speaking on the matter, in quotes carried by France24, Canu-Bernard said Mbappe is "not aware of the extent of the media frenzy, but is completely calm and does not understand what he could be accused of".
She also stated that the Les Bleus captain is "stunned to hear that it could concern him" and that "this is the reason why we are going to file a complaint for libel".
There also appears to be a lack of certainty surrounding the legitimacy of the allegation supposedly aimed at Mbappe, his lawyer added.
"We read the press," Canu-Bernard continued.
"The Stockholm prosecutor's office issued a statement, but it does not allow us to know whether Kylian Mbappe is the target. I therefore have no information allowing me to confirm whether this is indeed a complaint filed against him."
