Over the past year or so, the tricky winger has gone from being a budding prospect from La Masia to becoming one of the most prominent players in the world.

First, the teenage sensation established himself as a top player for the Catalan giants, before validating his claim to being one of the best stars on the planet when he helped Spain win the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

He has since been named among the 30 nominees for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, but according to Radio Marca, the Blaugrana are worried about his "excessive prominence" and fear he will not be able to control what happens to him given his young age.

The same report claims there are people at the club who are working to keep Lamine Yamal grounded, so that his new-found fame does not overwhelm him.

It seems the club's biggest concern is the fact that he is now represented by one of the biggest football agents in the world, Jorge Mendes.

Mendes is Cristiano Ronaldo's former agent, and has the likes of Bernardo Silva, Darwin Nunez and Ruben Dias among his clients.

It is understood Barca feel that his previous representative, Ivan de la Pena, who is more low-profile than Mendes, would have been able to handle the situation.

The wonderkid is coming off another international break in which he was able to grab a goal contribution, assisting in Spain's 4-1 victory over Switzerland, but will now be returning to Catalonia as his club begins preparations for their next match, against Girona this weekend.
