FA Cup Wrap: Percy Tau's Brighton and Hove Albion Eliminated

FA Cup Wrap: Percy Tau's Brighton and Hove Albion Eliminated

Leicester City 1-0 Brighton and Hove Albion

Percy Tau was given a start as Brighton and Hove Albion's FA Cup campaign came to an end at the hands of Leicester City.

After starting the last five league games on the bench, the Bafana Bafana international made his second successive start in the cup.

The struggled to produce any clear-cut openings but with extra-time looming, second-half substitute Kelechi Iheanacho popped up with the winning goal with the final kick of the game.

Tau did manage to complete his first full 90 minutes for the Seagulls, but was unable to help his side secure progression to the last eight.

Brighton will now turn their attention to Saturday's Premier League clash at home to high-flying Aston Villa.

Everton 5-4 Tottenham Hotspur

Everton secured a spot in the quarter-finals after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 5-4 in extra-time at Goodison Park.

Spurs got off to a fast start through Davinson Sanchez's third minute opener, before Everton hit back with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson before the break.

Erik Lamela pulled a goal back on the stroke of halftime for Spurs while Sanchez completed his brace on 57 minutes to even up the score.

Richarlison restored the Toffees' advantage with his second goal of the night on 68 minutes but second-half substitute Harry Kane sent the game to extra-time after making it 3-3 on 83 minutes.

The Toffees managed to bag the winning goal seven minutes into extra-time, with Bernado collecting a pass from Sigurdsson before volleying past Hugo Lloris to send Everton to the last eight.

Sheffield United 1-0 Bristol City

Sheffield United advanced to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a slender win over Championship outfit Bristol City.

After a scoreless first half, Bristol were reduced to 10 men in the 65 minutes as Alfie Mawson was shown a straight red card after the ball struck his hand in the box, handing the hosts a penalty.

With the resultant spot-kick, Billy Sharp handed his side the lead after calmly slotting past Max O'Leary.
