FA Cup Report: Marine v Tottenham Hotspur 10 January 2021

Result: Marine 0-5 Tottenham Hotspur

Date: 10 January 2021

Venue: Rossett Park

Carlos Vinicius netted a first-half hat-trick as Tottenham Hotspur thumped Marine 5-0 in the FA Cup Third Round on Sunday evening.

Jose Mourinho made nine changes to the side that booked Tottenham's place in the EFL Cup final courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Brentford on Tuesday, with Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura the only survivors from that game.

The first chance of the game fell to Delle Alli in the sixth minute after Vinicius laid Doherty's cross into his path. However, the midfielder's shot was straight into the grateful arms of Passant.

With 20 minutes gone, Marine and Kengni in particular rattled the crossbar. All on his own after embarking on a positive run into the Tottenham half, he let fly from 35 yards and it crashed against the bar before Hart was forced to tip it over.

The Premier League side had the breakthrough as the Benfica loanee Vinicius netted his first goal for Spurs. Following neat link-up play, Alli delivered a delicious ball to the far post, where Vinicius skipped away from the goalkeeper before blasting into the empty net.

It was another tap-in for the Brazilian with 20 minutes gone as he was in the right place at the right time after Doherty's volley was well-saved following a delightful Alli cross.

Lucas Moura made it three in the 32nd minute. Awarded a free-kick just outside the area, Lucas stepped up and superbly whipped his delivery right into the top corner.

Vinicius completed his treble in delightful fashion on the stroke of half-time as the ball sat up nicely for him in the box, and he sent a precise shot into the top left corner.

The visitors' youngest-ever first-team player Alfie Devine got himself on the scoresheet to become the club's youngest-ever scorer. Receiving the ball from Lucas in the box, he cleverly skipped inside before firing a low shot past Passant at the near post to put the icing on the cake for Spurs.
