FA Cup Quarter-Final Wrap

FA Cup Quarter-Final Wrap

Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup after suffering a 3-1 loss to Leicester City in the quarter-finals on Sunday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed a start Donny van de Beek while Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Alex Telles also returned while Bruno Fernandes was only named on the bench.

After a frantic start, it was the Foxes who broke the deadlock on 24 minutes as Kelechi Iheanacho pounced on Fred's poor back pass before rounding Dean Henderson to slot into an empty net.

The equaliser did arrived in the - minute when Pogba's cross from the left made it's way to Mason Greenwood, who found the back of the net with a first-time finish.

Leicester almost restored their lead just before the break through Ayoze Perez, who skipped past a couple challenges before curling one just wide.

The hosts did restore their advantage minutes after the restart as Youri Tielemans was allowed to time and space to find the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Solskjaer responded with four changes for the final 30 minutes as Fernandes, Edinson Cavani, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay were introduced to help get a second equaliser.

However, Leicester got a third goal in the 78th minute as Iheanacho was left un-marked at the far post and nodded home Marc Albrighton's free-kick.

Chelsea 2-0 Sheffield United

Chelsea advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.

Thomas Tuchel made a total of nine changes from the UEFA Champions League win over Atletico Madrid, as Kurt Zouma and Matteo Kovavic were the only players retained from Wednesday's clash.

The Blues dominated in the early exchanges but had to wait until the 24th minute to take the lead, with United's Oliver Norwood deflecting Ben Chilwell's cross into his own net trying to clear.

Tuchel's charges went close to adding a second goal three minutes before the break when Christian Pulisic intercepted a poor back pass to race through on goal but he was denied Blades goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

While Chelsea had most of the ball in the first stanza, United struggled to carve out any serious openings with David McGoldrick going closest with a curling effort that was easily saved by Kepa.

The Blades came out with a bit more fire in the second half and almost pulled level on 67 minutes when McGoldrick's sailed inches wide of the upright from Lundstram's cross.

The visitors threw on Rhian Brewster and Oliver Burke for the final 15 minutes as they went in search of an equaliser.

However, Chelsea wrapped up the win second-half stoppage time through Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech who sent fine volley into the bottom corner from Chilwell's cross.
