Manchester United have been crowned UEFA Europa League champions, after goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan secured a 2-0 win over Ajax Amsterdam in the final.
Jose Mourinho's charges enjoyed a good amount of possession in the early stages of the encounter with Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera spraying the ball around.
The Red Devils eventually took advantage of that early dominance, as Pogba handed his side the lead with a deflected effort from the edge of the box in the 17th minute.
Ajax started to see a bit of the ball after 25 minutes, with on-loan Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore causing a couple problems.
However, Mourinho's charges showed less urgency as the half went on and allowed Ajax to dictate the play, although the Dutch outfit failed to threaten the United goal.
The Red Devils wasted no time in doubling their lead in the second half, as Chris Smalling's flick on found Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who poked home from close range in the 48th minute.
The Dutch outfit responded with a change on the hour mark as Brazilian forward, Neres replaced the in-effective Kasper Dolberg.
With Ajax pushing for a goal, Mourinho introduced some fresh legs as Jesse Lingard replaced Mkhitaryan after 74 minutes.
Ajax, meanwhile, found it tough to break down the United defence for most of the half and they were restricted to efforts from distance, none of which trouble Sergio Romero.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease to clinch the Europa League and a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League group stage.
