United dominated a toothless Ajax Amsterdam and beat the Dutch runners-up 2-0 in a very one-sided final thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
In so doing, the Red Devils became only the fifth side to win the complete set of European trophies – the UEFA Europa League was the only continental title that had been missing from the club's trophy cabinet.
As Europa League champions, United have also automatically qualified for the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign, despite finishing in sixth position in the Premier League, and England will now have five teams in next season's Champions League campaign, with Liverpool set to begin the tournament in the final qualification round.
