Europa League

Result: Manchester United 1-1 Celta Vigo (2-1 on aggregate)

Date: 11 May 2017

Venue: Old Trafford

Manchester United have advanced to the UEFA Europa League final after claiming a 2-1 aggregate win over Celta Vigo in the semi-final.

Jose Mourinho's charges came into the match with a slim lead, after recording a 1-0 win in the first leg seven days ago.

The Spanish outfit nearly went ahead after four minutes but Sergio Romero was on hand to keep out Iago Aspas' curling effort from 20-yards out.

United eventually broke the deadlock with their first chance of the game after 17 minutes when Marouane Fellaini headed home Marcus Rashford's cross.

The visitors did not sit back and nearly hit back 10 minutes later through Hernandez, but Romero was once again on hand to tip the effort over the crossbar.

Celta squandered a big chance to level matters just before the halftime break when Pione Sisto picked out Daniel Wass, who headed wide from six-yards out.

The score remained 1-0 to the Red Devils as the sides entered the halftime break.

Rashford had the chance to double United's lead on the night after 65 minutes, but the striker's close range effort was saved by Sergio Alvarez.

The visitors started seeing a bit more of the ball as the second half went on and they should leveled matters on the night in the 75th minute, but John Guidetti somehow headed wide from six-yards out.

Celta eventually leveled matters on the night in the 85th minute when an un-marked Facundo Roncaglia headed into the far corner.

However both sides were reduced to 10 men three minutes later, as United's Eric Bailly and and Celta's Roncaglia were both sent off following a hug scuffle.

Mourinho's charges managed to see out the closing stages of the second half, as they progress to the final after winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

Other result:

Ajax Amsterdam will face Manchester United in the final, after they claimed a 5-4 aggregate win over Olympique Lyon.
