With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having been dropped for Arsenal's clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the last minute on Sunday, the reason for Mikel Arteta's shock decision has now reportedly been revealed.
The Gabon forward was not named in the Gunners' starting XI to take on Spurs this past weekend.
Aubameyang was said to have been left out of the squad for disciplinary reasons, forcing the club skipper to watch his team's 2-1 victory over their north London rivals from the stands.
According to the Daily Mail, the striker was dropped for turning up at the Emirates Stadium late, and this was reportedly not the first time such an incident occurred.
Speaking after the game, Arteta did not reveal exactly why the ex-Borussia Dortmund superstar was left out, but said he stands by his decision.
"I made what I thought was the right decision," he said.
"(Behavioural standards) is the foundation and the platform that we can build something medium- and long-term that is sustainable. That's why I keep talking about it and acting on it."
The Spanish tactician did play down rumours of a fallout with Aubameyang, however, saying: "These things happen. We have a way of living together that we have to respect each other, and that's it.
"But he (Aubameyang) is an incredible guy, he's probably one of the most important players in the team, he's our captain.
"These things happen, we move forward. Let's enjoy the victory."
Goals from Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette secured all three points for Arsenal on Sunday, with the Gunners remaining in 10th place in the Premier League.
