Erik Ten Hag went with the same starting line-up from the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, while defender Harry Maguire was left out of the squad completely amid reports he is wanted by another club.
The Red Devils had the first real opening on 13 minutes when Marcus Rashford collected a pass from Antony to race clear in the box, before he was denied by Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana was finally called into action on 25 minutes, as the Cameroonian showed good reactions to keep out Pape Matar Sarr at his near post.
United should have taken the lead six minutes later when Luke Shaw picked out an unmarked Bruno Fernandes, who steered his header horribly wide with only Vicario to beat from six yards.
The home side went even closer five minutes before the halftime break when Son Heung-min teed up Pedro Porro, who saw his first-time strike rattle against the crossbar .
Spurs did go on to get the breakthrough five minutes after the break when Dejan Kulusevski's cross deflected into the path of Sarr, who showed enough composure to fire home at the far post.
The visitors went agonisigly close to pulling level a few minutes later when Fernandes played in Antony, who took a couple touches before unleashing a strike that crashed against the upright.
However, Spurs ended any hopes of a Red Devils comeback in the 83rd minute when a wayward cross into the box was deflected past Onana by Lisandro Martinez's failed clearance.
