Newcastle United are thrilled to announce the signing of Bruno Guimarães from Olympique Lyonnais on a four-and-a-half year deal.
Bem vindo, @brunoog97!
With the Geordie club having already signed Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier in this window, manager Eddie Howe will now feel his side stands a good chance of avoiding relegation from the Premier League this season.
Guimaraes is a highly-rated midfielder who was said to be wanted by Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United, and who has made three appearances for Brazil since his senior debut in 2020.
The player was signed by Lyon from Athletico Paranaense two years ago, and now departs the French club after making 71 appearances and contributing to 11 goals.
In terms of his playing style, Guimaraes is viewed as an industrious, pressing midfielder who has an excellent knack of winning back the ball, although he is equally efficient in possession.
